Include the new CE Module step
An education certificate alone may no longer show that the portal renewal is ready to submit. Ask the nurse to complete the board’s CE Module step and retain evidence of the final renewal. For a first renewal or certification-based competency route, record which exception or alternative was used so the next reviewer does not demand the wrong course total.

Employer compliance considerations
Distinguish a Texas-issued RN license from another state’s license and any claimed compact privilege. Capture the jurisdiction and the reviewer’s verification date with the employee’s record.
