Scope: which credential this guide covers

Sales associate education and renewal differ from broker requirements. This guide covers the sales associate category. Official source ↗

Requirements

The prelicensing education requirement is a 63-hour sales associate course, including its course examination. Official source ↗

Complete the applicable state licensing and examination process; course completion alone is not an issued license. Official source ↗

Application fees

Not verified in this guide. Check the issuing authority’s current instructions; no amount, exemption or grace period is assumed.

Schedule postlicensing when the license is issued

The prelicense course is only the beginning of the education calendar. As soon as the sales associate receives the license, record the first renewal deadline and create a separate postlicensing task. Do not reuse a later-renewal CE checklist for a new associate; make the course type visible to the brokerage reviewer.

The checklist above is a suggested application workflow. The authority determines eligibility.

After issuance: plan the renewal

The first renewal falls in an 18–24 month period; subsequent cycles are 24 months. Official source ↗

Employer compliance considerations

A brokerage onboarding several new associates should maintain a distinct review list for those who have not completed postlicensing. Keep prelicense, postlicense and recurring CE documents labeled by purpose. That separation lets a manager identify the right missing item instead of seeing every education upload as interchangeable.

How this guide is maintained

Regulatory facts cite official government or licensing-authority pages. Unconfirmed values stay unknown. Employer checklists are suggested internal workflows, not additional licensing rules. Reviewed records have a maximum 90-day review window; overdue records leave the sitemap and search indexing until rechecked.
