Requirements

Application fees

Not verified in this guide. Check the issuing authority’s current instructions; no amount, exemption or grace period is assumed.

Keep course eligibility and broker affiliation separate

Create one checklist for the educational and examination requirements and another for the broker relationship needed for licensed activity. Keep the resulting salesperson license identifiable by category. A hiring manager should be able to see whether the applicant is still taking courses, awaiting the exam or waiting for the completed licensing record.

The checklist above is a suggested application workflow. The authority determines eligibility.

After issuance: plan the renewal

Employer compliance considerations

A brokerage roster should identify the salesperson category and the broker relationship supporting the person’s activities. Review that relationship during transfers and onboarding rather than only on expiration dates. Keep the broker’s own license record separate from each salesperson’s education and renewal file.

Which authority issues this California credential?

California Department of Real Estate (DRE). This guide covers the Real Estate Salesperson License; other categories require a separate review.

Keep application, examination and issuance evidence separate. Confirm the final authority record and its scope before treating an application as a completed license check.

How this guide is maintained

Regulatory facts cite official government or licensing-authority pages. Unconfirmed values stay unknown. Employer checklists are suggested internal workflows, not additional licensing rules. Reviewed records have a maximum 90-day review window; overdue records leave the sitemap and search indexing until rechecked.
